Adobes
After graduating from my Masters program, I spent some time traveling in the American Southwest.
While in Santa Fe, New Mexico, I was inspired by the forms of the traditional adobe buildings, which exist somewhere between the organic and the geometric.
They form a tapestry of hidden alleys, private courtyards, and humble residences across the quiet city, most of them under 2 stories tall.
I was struck by the quiet.
The city life, like the desert fauna, seems to hide behind these adobe walls, its presence felt but rarely visible.
Imagining the internal structures of these "soft boxes," I created a generative system that seeks to capture them in abstract, as self-contained objects.
