Fractures
These forms are created from slicing a geometry along a plane, then sliding the two halves with respect to one another.
Through iteration, this simple process yields complex fragmented forms.
These are a deterministic puzzle; although they appear convoluted, one can discern from their interlocking nature the order in which each slice was made, and the original shape can be recovered through careful observation.
This series represents to me the recoverability of seemingly scrambled information, the hidden and simple orders belied by the overstimulus of our everyday environments.
Perhaps it is a call to the viewer to look more closely.
These works-in-progress are part of ongoing work under the conceptual umbrella of "fragmentation"; pieces representing a process of subdivision, interlocking, and partition.
