Street Poppies
Processed and collaged images of cracked ceramic surface tiles overlaying punctures in red brick beneath.
Taken in the MBTA Downtown Crossing subway station in Boston.
Titled for their resemblance to the poppy, hallucinogenic flower and symbol of remembrance.
These marks invite us to contemplate the beauty of a broken veneer. They form a record of architectural layering,
a fragment of a material condition that has been covered up, then revealed again as through erosion.
